Stéphane Dekerle

Born in 1962, after studying sciences, he decided to start a military career. In 1982 he entered Saint-Cyr where he was a member of the promotion Général de Monsabert. At the end of his studies, he joined the Gendarmerie which is, for historical reasons, a civilian police force with military status. Coming from the North of France, the land of the invasion, in his childhood he was told family stories about the German occupation from 1914 to 1918. Therefore he has always been interested in the history of the First World War and this is the reason why he collects different objects from this period. Currently, he is a colonel and commands the Groupe de Gendarmerie in Nord-Lille in Norhtern France.
