Dr. Walter Blasi
Mag., Dr. phil., born 1954. After completing his compulsory military service in 1974 he was taken on as a contract agent/civil servant in the Federal Ministry for National Defence. From 1991 to 1995 he studied history at the University of Vienna completing a Masters degree (and receiving the Ludwig Jedlicka Memorial Prize for his thesis). In 2000 he completed a doctoral dissertation on Artillery General Dr. Emil Liebitzky, which was awarded the Werner Hahlweg Advancement Award for military history. From 2000 to 2006 Dr. Blasi was head of the department for the k.(u.)k. Navy and aviation troops in the Austrian State Archives/War Archives. In October 2006 he moved to the Austrian Federal Ministry for Internal Affairs. He is the author of various publications on Austrian history and military history. For many years he has had a deep, academic interest in the history of technology.
