Sascha Zimmermann
Born in 1970, this Munich native has been an avid lover of phaleristics since the age of ten and as a young collector was allowed to “go into teaching” with some of the great old masters in the science of medals and decorations. After completing his studies in business administration, he followed an inner calling and in 1994 became an independent trader, bringing together passion and profession. This successful activity was also constantly characterized by private research work over 18 years, and led through various foreign trips to an international network with the capacities of the study of medals and decorations. As a member of the European Conferences of Phaleristic Societies, and in exchange with military-historical museums worldwide, Sascha Zimmermann also gained insight into many institutional collections. Active in the German Society for the Science of Medals and Decorations (member of the Scientific Advisory Board), he published various times in the association journal. Until 2018, for six years Sascha Zimmermann was chief expert in the orders and decorations department of the international auction house Hermann Historica in Munich, before retiring from everyday business to devote himself to the completion of his book project on Bavarian military service orders.
